Christmas 2010 - Programme of Events
Nollaig Chridheil - Merry Christmas
Daniel and Rohaise welcome you to join the Christmas festivities at The Torridon. Our Victorian house is the perfect place to spend Christmas. Roaring log fires, walks through the woods, fine-dining and luxurious, comfortable surroundings allow you to experience a traditional Christmas in style. Our relaxed atmosphere means you will feel at home, away from home. Find our programme of events below and we look forward to spending this special time with you.
Christmas Eve
Traditional afternoon tea and welcome dram
Christmas at Loch Torridon starts with our traditional full afternoon tea served in our Library. Our famous Christmas tea is served between 3pm and 5pm and include scones, Christmas cake, mince pies, egg and cucumber sandwiches and chocolate treats. This is an ideal opportunity to meet the members of staff who will be looking after you and to start to relax and enjoy Christmas at The Torridon.
Dinner
Dinner is served from 7pm–8.30pm in our two rosette restaurant. Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by Bruno and his brigade.
Christmas Day
Breakfast
Wake up to the views of Loch Torridon on Christmas morning. Wander down to breakfast to enjoy special treats such as: kedgeree, smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a warm toasted muffin, freshly brewed coffee and a glass of squeezed orange juice, not forgetting toast and Geraldine’s famous home-made marmalade.
Guided Walk
If you wish to join Chris, he will take you on a gentle walk around Torridon. You will have the opportunity to discuss the local landscape and see some of our wildlife.
Champagne and Canapés
Join us in the Drawing Room and relax with a glass of champagne and canapés before lunch.
Christmas Lunch
You will be invited through to the restaurant at 4pm for Torridon Christmas lunch. Bruno produces a fine traditional menu with all the Christmas trimmings to make sure you choose a nice claret to compliment.
Games
Relax after lunch with a glass of port or one of our 300 malt whiskies in front of a roaring log fire and if you have the energy, join in a game of Trivial Pursuit or Scrabble.
Evening Supper
A simple supper of sandwiches, nibbles, cheese and cake will be organised in the front hall.
Boxing Day
Full Scottish Breakfast
Make sure you have a good breakfast, starting with our homemade porridge and if you wish a shot of Torridon Whisky, followed by Full Scottish Breakfast including Haggis and Black Pudding specially made for us by our local Gairloch butcher.
Treasure Hunt
The annual hunt for Treasure will begin at 12.15pm. Teams should assemble in the Front Hall. The challenge will be explained and teams should set off in search of the treasure. All treasure found should be returned by 5.00pm. The winners will be announced and prizes presented at 6.45 pm in the drawing room.
You may also wish to book a session of clay pigeon shooting or archery. We advise that you speak to Chris and book in advance as space is limited.
Afternoon Tea
During the afternoon relax and enjoy tea and cakes by the log fire
Dinner
A gourmet boxing day buffet dinner will be served by our chefs in the Front Hall from 7.00pm. The superb buffet is filled with local delights such as oysters, mussels, langoustine, carved meats and other surprises.
