The Ceremony

The ceremony itself can take place either in the library or the drawing room and we are able to provide witnesses if required. A Scottish piper can be arranged for you to celebrate in style and the evening can be rounded off with Ceilidh dancing accompanied by a three-piece band.

Our team of professionally trained staff will look after you and your guests to ensure your wedding is a day to remember.

By law both parties to a proposed civil or religious marriage are required to submit Marriage Notice Forms to the Registrar of the District in which the marriage is to take place. The District Registrar for Torridon and Shieldaig is:-

It is essential before you finalise the arrangements for your wedding that you make contact with the District Registrar for the Shieldaig (Torridon) District, whose details appear above. You will obtain the necessary advice regarding the Legal Preliminaries to Marriage in Scotland and the appropriate documentation will be sent to you. A Marriage Ceremony conducted in the Hotel may take the form of a Religious Ceremony, which must be conducted by an Approved Celebrant (e.g. this may be a Church of Scotland Minister) whom you should also make contact with as soon as possible and whose details the District Registrar will require before the marriage takes place; or a civil ceremony – a non-religious ceremony conducted by a registrar.

Venue

The Torridon is one of the most idyllic and scenic locations in the Highlands of Scotland, and an ideal venue for an intimate wedding celebration for you and your guests. Combined with our location and a professional team of dedicated staff your wedding will be a dream come true. Whatever type of weekend you are looking for we will ensure that you and all your guests will be well looked after.

Availability

We can organise parties for up to 42 guests, sleeping 38 and 4 children sharing with their parents in the main house. Large parties (i.e more than 16 guests total) must be booked on an exclusive only basis. 

Exclusivity means the hotel will be hired to you from Friday 2.00pm-Sunday 11.00am. This will include accommodation, dinner, bed & breakfast for all of your 36 guests plus yourselves for two days. It also includes welcome afternoon tea, printing of menus & place names. No other guests will be allowed into the hotel so you can treat the house as home. An example of the type of weekend we could organise is as follows:

Friday

• Archery and Clay-Pigeon Shooting in the afternoon 
• Buffet Style Dinner or Three-Course Dinner – set menu of your choice.

Saturday: 

•  Full Scottish Breakfast
•  Champagne Reception.
•    Celebratory Dinner served in the Dining Room – set menu of your choice
•   Ceilidh Band in the evening
•   *Evening Firework Display
•  Bacon Rolls at Midnight

Sunday: 

•  Full Scottish Breakfast served in the Dining Room
•  Guests Depart and party couple take off in *Helicopter.

Menu and Wines

Our head chef has provided a selection of menus for you to look at, these menus are flexible so you may prefer to mix and match the starter and main courses to make a particular menu of your choice.  Chef is happy to have a chat with you to ensure the perfect menu. We do require you to choose the same menu for the whole party, but we can create a special menu for those guests with any individual dietary requirements or needs. Please note that some dishes are subject to seasonality and availability. You may also wish to consider an informal buffet style dinner on the first night. Please note that for extra guests attending, the meals will be charged at £40.00 for Dinner and £17.00 for Breakfast. If you would like us to organise Soup and Sandwiches for your guests on either of the days the price is £12.50 per person.

It is hotel policy that all wines served must be purchased from the hotel. If you do wish to bring your own special wines, the corkage is £20.00 per bottle, and champagne £30.00 per bottle. We can discuss your wine and champagne choice to compliment your meal once you have chosen your menu.

Flowers

Table flowers will be provided for the Friday night, in-keeping with the house. For the birthday party, table decorations or any type of bouquet you may wish to contact our hotel florist: Amanda Call: 01456 415210. 

Table Plan

Due to the shape of our dining room, we are slightly restricted on the set-up of tables. We can organise either square tables of 8 and 6 or 2 long tables of 22 & 20. We are happy to print up menus, place cards and table plan in our house-style for you at no extra cost. If you would prefer to organise this yourselves, please let us know.

Accommodation

We can cater for 38 guests in the hotel and this can be accommodated as follows:

10   x  Double Rooms ,  9   x  Double or Twin Bedrooms.

We can also provide Cots or Small extra beds for young children. Children sharing with their parents will be charged £25.00 for their accommodation, bed & breakfast. Additional rooms may be available in the Ben Damph Lodge, chargeable as required. 

Wedding cake and stand

We can provide a cake stand and knife at no extra cost.  If you would like us to organise a cake, please contact us for further details, we require at least 12 weeks notice for a formal wedding cake, prices start from £150.00.

Entertainment

We can organise a traditional Scottish Ceilidh (from £350.00) on the evening of your birthday or a DJ. We have a dance floor which we provide at no extra cost. 

Activities

We can provide a number of activities to entertain your guests over the weekend. On-site there is Clay-Pigeon Shooting and Mountain Biking. Other activities are Guided Walks, Falconry or Fly-Fishing. For full details, please visit our website www.torridon-activities.com.

Photographer

 We are able to recommend photographers depending on the style you are looking for and your budget.

Hairdresser & Beautician

We can organise a hairdresser and beautician to come to the hotel for any of the ladies who may not wish to take part in the activities, prices start from £80.00. Please let us know how many guests would require this service and at what time. We also have a local masseuse who can offer Indian Head massages if you wish for a nice relaxing treatment.

 Firework display

From: £200.00 we can organise a firework display for you and your guests. The display must take place no later than 10.30 pm and please note that in the summer it is still light at this time so the display will not be so effective.

 Helicopter Transfer

Fly off from the hotel, with a lasting memory of the amazing mountains and lochs that surround Torridon.  You will be picked up from the front lawn in front of the house and taken to your destination.
